Coco

Everyone likely assumes this post is about the fabulous Coco Chanel.  But it's not.  It's about my kitten.

That's Coco when she was still a positively fluffy kitten.

Now her fur has settled down just a bit.  She's the sweetest cat ever, and the best kitty friend a girl could ask for. :) (Of course Sophie begs to differ; Truffle is the best cat friend, in her opinion.)

Fashion Kisses

This post is just so I can say...

How fab did Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jessica Chastain look at the Oscars last Sunday?  I'm in awe, literally.  Oh, yes, and I think Norah Jones and Halle Berry were beautiful, too.

Now I'm off to check out my favorite fashion blogs, drink some hot cocoa, and review for a history test I have tomorrow.

Mwa! (There's the kiss from the title.)

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Report Card

Bonjour, readers.  Awards season is upon us and this is always a time to check out what celebrities think looks good (and they are often wrong).

Claire Danes in Versace-A+
She wore my favorite look of the night.  And can you believe she just had a baby a month ago???  The only thing Claire needs to improve upon is her eye make-up.

Taylor Swift in Donna Karan-A+
I think Taylor actually ties with Claire for best look.  I applaud her for moving away from her usual gold, cream, and red palette.  Purple is a fabulous color for Taylor.  I only wish I had a picture of the back of the dress, and the angle of this shot isn't the best.

Helen Mirren in Badgeley Mischka- A-
Wow, Helen looks amazing for being 67.  This dress is classic and funky, just what she should be wearing.

Jessica Alba in Christian Dior-B+
I want that necklace.  No, for reals, I want it.  Jessica (or her stylist) chose a great look, all except that clutch.  I'm all about an unexpected piece, but a feathery purse?  Just say non!

Jodie Foster in Giorgio Armani-B+
Another older woman who looks fantastic for her age.  This dress is stunning, but the hair and eye make-up just aren't doing it for me.

Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham-B
Jenny Packham is one of my favorite designers, and this dress is no exception.  Kristen looks so pretty.  I just can't love how heavy the beading on the shoulders is.  The linebacker look doesn't work for anyone.

Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan- B-
That blue color is absolutely lovely on Nicole, but I'm not sure the nude background is the best, and a clutch with that much fringe is just horrendous.  I do love her ringlets, though.  Elegant but simple.

Michelle Dockery in Alexander Vauthier-C+
This is a nice twist on classic colors.  Her hair and accessories look good, too, but I think the gold part should end a bit higher.

Anne Hathaway in Chanel-C
Whoever took this picture needs to be fired because Anne's head looks way out of proportion to her body.  I love the simplicity of this Chanel dress, but it's just missing something for me. A brightly-colored necklace would be a good addition.

Katharine McPhee in Olivier Theyskens for Theory-F
I just...this is downright awful.  It looks like a jumper, and I'm so over the thigh-high-slit trend.  Those shoes are terribe, too.  And I can't say I'm a fan of top-knots.  Sorry, Katharine, but you can do much, much better.

Paris Fetish

Let me just say, this is one freaking awesome Louboutin heel.  I wonder how hard it is to walk in???

Saturday Shopping

I had a great time shopping today, but this is going to be a quick post since dinner is supposed to be ready in fifteen minutes.  We visited a couple consignment and thrift stores along with the usual places.  Becs found a knock-off Gucci purse that looks pretty authentic.  I didn't find anything at the consignment or thrift stores, but I bought some tops at Macy's, and I scored a good deal on shoes at Payless Shoe Source.

I'm excited for spring break (my boyfriend is supposed to come visit!), and I already have an outfit planned for one of the days, if the weather cooperates.  It includes my new dress from dELiA*s:

the shoes from Payless:

and the vintage Chanel sunglasses Gigi gave me for Christmas:

Do you all approve?  I, as Fashionista Jane, give this my stamp of approval.  Retro chic is in, especially if you mix it with something a little modern, such as my shoes.  And never forget a scarf or some jewelry!

Bonjour!

Bonjour, gentle readers, or should I say bonsoir, since it is half past nine?  I am pleased to begin posting my ramblings and fashion endeavors here for you to see.  I seem to have lost my touch for Austen-speak, but perhaps I'll be able to slowly relearn it.  Fashion is my passion, and I'm happy to say I'm going shopping in Boston this weekend with my grandmother, best friend, and another dear friend who is in town for a few more days until she has to return home to Paris.

I must bid you adieu, but I'll leave you with some magnificent sketches I found while hopping around the Internet.  Aren't these dresses fab?
